Why Humans Need Music: Music has always had a huge role in life. I work out with it playing, drive, work, sleep, just laying around, and homework. No matter what kind of music is playing it is needed in my life. There are tons of other that think the same way. A research study was done, and it discovered that different gernes have different effects on how a person's personalities. I will be focusing on what rap music and heavy metal have done.  Heavy Metal: In a study people who listen to heavy metal were more likely men, dislike authority, and want to feel unique. What the researchers found interesting was that the metal fans tended to have relatively low self-esteem. People who are on the angry and aggressive side can experience more positive emotions when listening to the metal music. The greatest mosh pit ever - YouTube With that being said a mosh pit is at almost every heavy metal concert. Mosh pits are members of the audience getting into an empty circle and will dance energe...

Frank Sinatra  Frank Sinatra's Journey      Mr. Sinatra developed an interest in music at a young age. It was particularly big in band jazz he listened to Gene Austin, Rudy Vallee, Russ Colombo while idolizing Bing Crosby. During his 15th birthday party, he was given a ukulele by his uncle. He would perform at family gatherings. To start his career singing he would sing at the local Hoboken social clubs and would also sing for free on radio stations. In New York he found jobs singing for his supper or for cigarettes. He wanted to improve his speech he started taking elocution lessons for a dollar each from a vocal coach named John Quinlan. Gobal Trip to the Music of Africa

Image
The Music of Africa The history  of African music is very fascinating  to me,  and I hope it is to you. The African  music you might listen  to today may be completely different then it was back then. African  music goes so back in the past that earliest  sources on what African  music is archaeological. The musical instrument made of the vegetable  materials are not around to provide examples the music is supplied by representations of the interments  on a stone or terra-cotta.  Early African style of Music: The African music literature is based on western theoretical frameworks. The African  music in the past may be different than  what it is now. African music has never been associated with certain ethic groups.  It's  all about the Individual musicians , the way they play, and how original it is.   The way they study the past of African music is by looking at the stones with paintings, book i...

Innovations and Evolutions of Saxophones

Image
The history of saxophone music. Background of the Saxophone: The Saxophone was invented by Adolphe Sax in the early 1840's. He wanted to create an instrument that had the technical dexterity of the flute and a clarinet and the horn sound like the brass family. He was experimenting with modifications to a brass clarinet when he came up with the protype of a saxophone. The common confusion around the saxophone was explained by saying "It's a woodwind instrument, but it's made from brass?!" Point A of the Saxophone in the 1840's-1920's:   The Saxophone was "conceived" to be a member of the orchestra. A number of composers lent support to the idea so the wrote orchestral pieces to feature the saxophone. The original saxophone has different places for some of the notes and different places where the air is let out. I could not find a video of it being played in the 1840's Suprise Suprise. I did find a video that was taken about 8 years ago. It...

Musical Analysis of Location by Khalid  The song I picked this week is "Location" by Khalid. I picked this song because I have loved it since I was a kid. I listened to it every day and I still due to this day. It's a song I will listen to when I'm doing homework and relax. He states in an interview that the lyrics are about ""young love"- the kind that would make a person "travel all over the country" in order to find." Khalid - Location (Official Video) - YouTube Rhythm: The rhythm of Location is what sounds like a piano in the background. It doesn't appear the entire time but when it does show up it starts loud and kind of like a beep and will die down to very soft beep, but you can still hear it over everything else. Melody: The melody of the song was smooth with mostly low notes. It seems to be a simple melody. Timbre: When talking about him singing its very soft just like the some of the background music. There are certain in...

"Red Solo Cup"- Toby Keith I have heard this song ever since I was a kid it was my mom's favorite snog same with my grandma and my uncles and my dad would blast this song when he was drawing or cleaning the house. I love the snog the lyrics, the tempo and Rythm. Every time I see a red solo cup the snog pops in my head. It's been drilled into my memory. Toby Keith - Red Solo Cup (Unedited Version) - YouTube The Lyrics Toby Keith says, "It's the stupid song I ever heard in my life, but it's so stupid it's good". The snog was never supposed to be record for people to hear. The lyrics simple and easy to keep up with. Its thought to be "nursery rhyme stupid" that once some hears the song the lyrics are in their head, and they will be singing to the song in their head hours later. Red solo cup has always been known as the party cup and this song just puts it out there more,  "Red solo cup uh huh I fill you up Let's have a party"...
